I've just created a Dust Channel, "The SBL" where you may join, and queue sync matches between teams who will not only win loyalty points for their factions, but also win ships in Eve Online.
Team leaders must evemail me or post here ahead of the match to choose the prize they will be fighting over, and name their Eve Online alts, or representatives, who will accept the ship prizes for them.
If you don't have an Eve alt or agent, my alt, Min Lo could act as your agent, holding your Eve Online prize until such time as CCP gives you better access, or liquidating your prize to convert it to Dust isk.
Current prizes include: A standard frigate for winning a single match. Worth ~ half a million Eve isk. A standard destroyer for winning two in a row. Worth ~ a million Eve isk. A standard cruiser for winning three in a row. Worth ~ten million Eve isk.
If this goes smoothly, additional prizes may include:
A standard battlecruiser for winning four in a row. Worth ~50 million Eve isk. A standard battleship for winning five in a row. Worth ~100 million Eve isk.
If this takes off, I'm considering eventually culminating in a longer series (seven wins in a row), to give away a Moros dreadnaught, worth ~two billion Eve isk (currently docked in low-sec.)
Here's how it works.
#1. Join the channel, "The SBL" #2. Organize the pre-match in the SBL channel, consisting of: A. Form squads and teams, including picking a faction for each side, B. Plan for the switch to squad chat, team chat, or your own voice channel once the match begins. C. Squad leaders set servers to the same region, D. Squad leaders count down the queue sync; join battle, (voice coms discipline is important at this point).
If a couple squads make it into each side of the same match, (or less if the opposing team leaders agree) hit the "start" button to avoid accidental cancellations, switch to each team's voice coms and play the match.
If the sync is too split up split across multiple battles (squad leaders announce different planets and districts) then everybody cancels and tries again.
#3. Switch to team's chosen voice coms, fight the match. #4. The teamleader from the defeated team reports the match outcome. (Play against team leaders decent to admit defeat.)
I'm open to suggestions for how the above should be revised. I'm reposting this idea, because its not entirely up to CCP to make meaningful connections between Dust514 and Eve Online. To the extent CCP currently permits, its up to us to make meaningful connections between these games. |
